Just finished watching Australia’s, Highway Patrol.
How are people so stupid.
A car is pulled over for no valid registration. Driver has no licence as it’s suspended. Has been stopped twice before while suspended and feels he’s being persecuted.
How?
Your car doesn’t have a valid registration so it’s bound to draw attention from ANPR cameras. Your also banned from driving, you know it, yet you still keep on doing it. But you feel it’s the police persecuting you. Moron.
Another gets pulled over for speeding, double the limit, in a school zone. Yet is pissed with the police for pulling him over. Gets his licence suspended for 12 months, car impounded and a fine.

We may be Australian but we are also human ...therefore not immune from stupidity.
This sort of show doesn’t entertain me. I just can’t find the entertainment in watching dumb people perform...pretty much covers every reality program ever created.

I didn’t mean to imply just Oz. So many on these shows bang on about being persecuted, I mean how many of us know someone who has been given a fine and heard, ‘they are just revenue generators, its not about safety’, ‘why don’t they catch real criminals ?’, etc...? I see the same thing on Police Ten 7 from New Zealand and the many U.K. and U.S. police programmes.
I prefer these reality shows along with Super T ruckers (the Australian and the U.K. versions), customs and border patrol, etc... I find them more entertaining than the other ‘reality’ shows and soap operas.

You're cool...I know you didn't. But I can't watch stupid people doing stupid stuff like these shows peddle in... there's no joy in it for me.

Shouldn’t you be out there catching rapists and murderers?! This is a waste of my time! Do you know who I am?!

I’m like that with Home & Away, Neighbours, Coronation Street, Eastenders, etc... Big Brother, Geordie Shore, etc...
Though I do mute the TV when someone says, ‘I don’t recognise your authority. I’m a sovereign citizen’, that’s when I lose it.

Thos e arguments always make me laugh because if they weren’t catching idiots they happen upon they could be out helping their colleagues find those people but as it is, the public can’t be trusted and so officers need to be out and about to react to what’s going on and stop people doing general crimes before it turns into a f ree for all.
It’s not like the police and councils don’t give people a head start.
Our fixed position and mobile speed cameras are marked as such.
It’s also not like they don’t tell you where they are either.

As for the police in other traffic violations, their cars predominantly look like this.
If y our not seeing one of these on the road and one stops you, then that’s on you.
A while ago a guy was caught by chance driv ing without a licence for 37 years. He drove the car registered in someone elses name that was taxed, MOT’d and insured in that person’s name and drove exactly as he should if he had a licence and so never got stopped purely because he didn’t do anything to draw attention to himself .

Yeah no one can hide with those markings. We’ve got some sneaky cars here in the US but the vast majority are fully marked, light bars, etc. Hard to miss.

The is is one of my state’s “marked” highway patrol vehicles. If you squint you can see the decals. However, our state cops are pretty lenient with speeding tickets, and ten over on a freeway is only a $40 ticket and no points on your license.

What state is this? $40 and no point! I’d take that deal.

Arizona. I just found out that the legislature actually lowered the max penalty to $15 for less than ten over on interstates a few years ago.
Arizona didn’t like being told to lower its interstate speeds back in the ‘70s, so they created the “wasting of finite resources” provisions which gave people going 65 mph a slap on the wrist. Most cops here are pretty lax about speeding. I haven’t received a ticket since college when I got nailed doing 40 over on a mountain road (I was on a bike). Thought I was going to jail, but after a stern lecture he dropped my speed down to 19 over.
